SUMMARY:Park Maintenance Volunteer Day
DESCRIPTION:Join Citizens for Central Park in maintaining the beauty of Central Park! Since the park dedication (Labor Day Weekend of 2010)\, the need for volunteers has continued and expanded to include the summer concert series which is in its twelfth year in 2025. \nThe past two years\, volunteers have met one day a week (2 hours) to help with park maintenance and improvements in 2025 labeled ‘Thursdays in the Park’. This year\, in addition to Thursdays in the park\, the first Saturday of most months were included as well for those who’s schedule prevents them from joining us during the week. \nVolunteers will meet in the vendor parking area on the south side of the park. Bring your own gloves\, water\, trowel\, shovel\, saw\, pruners\, broom\, shovel (if you don’t have any of these just join us – we always have extra should you not have your own) – but always bring your sense of humor.

DESCRIPTION:The Shriners Parade will take place at 10:00am on Mason Avenue and feature miniature cars driven by Shriners\, who wear draped red fezzes. These parades are popular in North America and are part of various celebrations\, such as the Crab Slam parade in Cape Charles! \nThe Shriners organization supports sick children through their fundraising efforts. \nThe Shriners parade kicks off the 5th Annual Crab Slam festivities and will be followed by a local vendor market\, live music\, skiff races\, and an oyster eating contest throughout the day.
